Children

There’s no better place to be a kid than at First Baptist Westfield!

First-time visitors to our children's programs always ask their parents to come back again. They love it here! Attentive teachers, fun activities, comfortable relationships, and engaging lessons all come together in our children's activities.

Infants and toddlers receive special attention from a paid Nursery Director, which gives the little ones a familiar face each week. Volunteer adults and youth assist with child care.  We follow careful screening and safety procedures to protect children.

Two children's choirs are integrated into the Sunday morning program. Cherubs, for 4-6 year old children, and Choristers, for 2nd-5th graders, rehearse at 9:45 and 10:00 Sunday mornings. Both choirs sing during the worship service every 6-8 weeks

Throughout the school year we offer a variety of programming for children.  Most Sundays kids begin at 10:15am in worship with their families, where they experience the gathered church family.  After a brief lesson geared to them ("Children's Moments"), preschool and primary school children who choose are escorted downstairs for our techno-driven program KIDMO (or an alternative).  Their program concludes at 11:30, about the time worship concludes upstairs.  Parents are always welcome to participate with their children if they are more comfortable OR children can stay in worship with their parents.

Vacation Bible School, for a week in the summer, is a popular hit. The entire church facility is transformed and decorated to suit its special theme. For example, the theme for 2008 is “Beach Party - Surfin' Through the Scriptures"  beach festivities with multimedia lessons and crazy games.

We enjoy children, and they can tell!  We teach our children the time-tested truths of the Christian faith, and then encourage them to apply them to their everyday lives.
